    Sunday 21 April…

is the 4th Sunday of Easter. Our sung Mass – with Sunday School – begins at 10.30am.

At this time of the year, our Easter rejoicing continues. We celebrate the victory of Jesus Christ over death and the gift of abundant life. And during this joyful season of celebration, it’s fitting that there’s so many exciting events coming up on the horizon. Hopefully you’ll be able to join in, using these opportunities to deepen the bonds of friendship within our Christian community, as well as to grow in knowledge and love of our Lord. And why not invite a neighbour or friend along? The good news of Christ’s resurrection from the dead needs to be shared.

God bless you this coming week.

    Fr Lincoln

SUNDAY 21 APRIL: HERITAGE FUND AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT

As part of our Heritage Fund project, “Sharing Our Future”, we are doing lots of work behind the scenes to explore ways in which we can engage more with the wider community. This Sunday after Mass, Miki Lentin will be asking us a few questions at the door when we leave. Miki is an expert in helping churches expand their horizons, so do please take a couple of minutes to help him discover ways forward for us as a church. Thank you!

MONDAY 22 APRIL: SPRING BIBLE STUDY AT THE VICARAGE

Our Spring Bible Study focuses on The Letter to the Philippians. The evenings will run from 6pm-7pm for four weeks only, beginning this Monday, 22 April. If you’re planning to attend, let Fr Lincoln know you as soon as possible!

    MONDAY 22 APRIL-FRIDAY 26 APRIL: MIDWEEK MASS

Midweek mass takes place at 12.30pm each day during the week. Next week we will be celebrating St George on Tuesday and St Mark on Thursday, so do come along to pray in the peace and quiet of our Lady Chapel. Each midweek Mass lasts around 20 minutes, so it’s ideal for taking a pause from the day’s busyness and meet with Our Lord. The church will also be open from

WEDNESDAY 24 APRIL: FREE LUNCHTIME CONCERT

Our next lunchtime concert is next Wednesday, 24th April. The Forgotten Melodies Society’s Lunchtime Concert will again feature young musicians from the Royal Academy of Music. Come along and support these young musicians and hear some beautiful music in a stunning setting. 24th April. 1:15-2:15pm Free Entry! Programme includes:

    · Y. Bowen - Short Sonata

    · M. Hamauzu - etude no.10

SUNDAY 12 MAY: ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING

Our APCM will be held on Sunday 12th May straight after Mass. Our annual meeting receives a report on the church’s activities during the past year, as well as a financial statement. Everyone’s encouraged to attend (although only those on our Electoral Roll can vote on any matters arising). The church report will be available in advance. If you would like to receive an electronic copy to read, please email Fr Lincoln.

    WEDNESDAY 22 MAY: CONFIRMATION CLASS

Our Confirmation Classes begin on Wednesday 22nd May, 3.30-4.30 at Hampden Gurney, our parish school. Please let Fr Lincoln know as soon as possible if you would like your child to attend – or if you are interested in learning more about your own confirmation!

SUNDAY 30 JUNE: HERITAGE FUND BLESSING OF WAR MEMORIAL

    Save the date!

As part of our Heritage Fund Project, we will be blessing the restored Calvary War Memorial in a special event on Sunday 30th June, straight after Mass. We've chosen this date because it marks 100 years since the memorial's original unveiling. The ceremony will be officiated by Revd (Capt). Thomas Sander, Rector of St. Giles in the Fields and Padre at The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. In addition to the ceremony, we will be hosting an exhibition exploring the stories of the individuals remembered on the monument, as well as sharing the rich history of the church and the memorial itself.

The ceremony will commence at 12pm on the 30th of June at the corner of Old Quebec and Bryanston Streets, followed by a gathering at the church where we will have the opportunity to engage with the exhibition and learn more about our ongoing project. And the Victory Services Club will be providing us with delicious refreshments!

Please kindly confirm your attendance by RSVPing here to help with catering (https://forms.gle/8x35wGFn1AWgEgvGA) or by emailing Fr Lincoln.

    PASTORAL SUPPORT

Fr Lincoln is available for pastoral support and prayer. He is happy to plan occasional offices, such as baptisms, or to arrange things like “home blessings” or confessions. Do get in touch.

    GENEROUS GIVING

We need everyone at the Annunciation to commit to regular giving, ideally making use of the “Parish Giving Scheme” to support the mission and ministry of our church. We want to respond to God’s call to reach out and serve the people of our neighbourhood and maintain our wonderful building. Your generosity is essential to making that happen.

    Sunday 7 April…

is a very special day for us. We celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation.

The Feast of the Annunciation usually falls on the 25 March, precisely nine months before Christmas. However, because of Easter, it’s been moved this year to avoid a clash with Holy Week. The revised date gives us a chance to celebrate the mysterious beginning to Christ’s life, having only just celebrated the mysterious end to it on Good Friday, as well as his mysterious beginning-again-beyond-the-grave on Easter Day.

The liturgical chronology is therefore a bit upside down and topsy turvy this year, with beginnings and ends and new beginnings seemingly all out of kilter. But the Gospel always turns our world upside down and detonates any day-to-day assumptions about reality, i.e. things such as time. It will therefore do us good to marvel at the Annunciation this coming Sunday. The mysteries of God know no end.

Sung Mass, with Sunday School, starts at 10.30am. Sunday should be a wonderful occasion for young and old!

    Fr Lincoln

    THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered to help make Easter such a special occasion. The refreshments on Sunday were amazing and Kevork, Marios, and Theo did ever so well to handle all the liturgical complexities of the liturgy over the three days. We are very fortunate to have so many people willing to help out in church, ensuring our community life flourishes. If you want to help with refreshments or join our wonderful team of servers, do speak with Fr Lincoln. Church is mysterious, but it isn’t magic – and we need people to help! Thank you.

    SUNDAY 7 APRIL: ANNA’S BAPTISM

We are delighted Anna will be baptised this Sunday. Her baptism take place outsider of Mass, at 2pm. Please pray for Anna, her parents Sergei and Nasiba, and her godparents over the coming days - and beyond. And let us rejoice that the Lord is again adding to his number.

    CHURCH CLOSED MIDWEEK

Fr Lincoln is away during the week on a post-Easter break. The church will be closed, reopening for Mass on the 14 April, when normal service will resume. (See notice below!)

MONDAY 15 APRIL: MIDWEEK MASS RESUMES

Midweek masses will resume on Monday 15 April at 12.30pm, and then Monday-Friday each week thereafter. Do come along to pray in the peace and quiet of our Lady Chapel. Each midweek Mass lasts around 20 minutes, so it’s ideal for taking a pause during a lunchbreak.

    MONDAY 15 APRIL: PCC MEETING

The next meeting of the PCC will be held on Monday 15 April at 7pm, meeting at the vicarage. The agenda and papers will be sent to the trustees in advance.

MONDAY 22 APRIL: SPRING BIBLE STUDY AT THE VICARAGE

Our Spring Bible Study focuses on The Letter to the Philippians. The evenings will run from 6pm-7pm for four weeks only, beginning on Monday 22 April. We will then meet on the 29 April, 13 May, and 20 May (avoiding the bank holiday and half term). If you’re interested, do contact Fr Lincoln for details.

WEDNESDAY 24 APRIL: FREE LUNCHTIME CONCERT

Our next lunchtime concert is on Wednesday 24 April. The Forgotten Melodies Society’s Lunchtime Concert will again feature young musicians from the Royal Academy of Music. Come along and support these young musicians and hear some beautiful music in a stunning setting. 24th April. 1:15-2:15pm Free Entry!
